University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is a Spanish university situated in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the Canary Island, Gran Canaria. ULPGC is a fairly new university with it only being built in 1989. The creation of the school was partly based on the large number of petitions the people of Gran Canaria had organized for many years in pursuit of a university; it was incorporated as a public, Spanish university in the University Reorganization Act of 1989.
The university is actually comprised of five separate campuses. Four are located in Gran Canaria – Tafira, Obelisco, San Cristóbal & Montaña Cardones; the other is on another island, Lanzarote. Tafira is the largest and most important of the five campuses.
